Return of the Flag: Confederate banner divides communities

Conflict has been on the rise in America’s Southern states over the presence of the Confederate battle flag in places ranging from public buildings, like the South Carolina State House, to private residences. Some believe that the flag represents racism and white supremacy, while others see the banner as a symbol of heritage and of the courage that their ancestors had during the Civil War.
