Foreign Policy Year-in-Review ‘The Bloom is Off the Rose’ and Middle East in Focus

Published 24 Dec, 2018 20:59

Scottie Nell Hughes brings you a special year-in-review special focused on US foreign policy. Some of the biggest moves and moments include President Trump’s historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore, the move to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty with Russia and the tit-for-tat trade war between US and Russia. Daniel McAdams of the Ron Paul institute and former US diplomat Jim Jatras share their insights.

2018 saw a continuation of US entanglements in the Middle East. The US opened a long-awaited and controversial embassy in Jerusalem, President Trump walked back Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal and restored sanctions against Iran, the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi hurt Saudi Arabia’s image abroad while its aftermath revealed Trump’s foreign policy priorities, and violence continues in war-torn Syria. Former Pentagon official Michael Maloof and former CIA officer Philip Giraldi join to discuss.
