Iran has cancelled a visit by Iraq’s prime minister after he said that while he was opposed to renewed US sanctions on Tehran he had no choice but to abide by them, AP reported an Iraqi official as saying. Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi was to visit Iran and Turkey later this week. The Turkey visit, beginning Tuesday, will go ahead as planned, the official said. Government spokesman Saad al-Hadithi declined to comment on the report. Baghdad has occasionally mediated between Iran and the United States and sponsored talks between the two.
